The Colts’ quarterback battle between Anthony Richardson and Daniel Jones is going to come down to one thing: consistency. That’s according to head coach Shane Steichen, who said Saturday the deciding factor will boil down to which of the former first-round picks can produce a stable body of work in both play and decision-making.

The third possession for Richardson began at the Colts' own eight-yard line and with just 1:38 on the clock. The play of the drive was negated by an offsides penalty on AD Mitchell, but it included Richardson throwing a beautiful downfield touch pass to Anthony Gould for a 38-yard completion.
Given Richardson's injury history plus general concerns about his development stagnating because of the turbulent start to his NFL career, Indianapolis signed former New York Giants first-round pick Daniel Jones to a one-year, $14 million contract to push Richardson and compete for the starting quarterback job.
The Colts are digging themselves a bigger hole with the Anthony Richardson situation, and it's only making matters worse.
