Right across the street, Gary firefighters made their way inside Frankie Woods McCullough Academy, a public school located at 3757 W. 21st Ave. Strong winds and a possible tornado peeled back the roof of the school and damaged the gymnasium and classrooms.

Toppled power lines. Caved-in roofs. Lumbering trees crashed into the Earth. And residents left stunned. These were just a few of the images greeting Gary this morning after a tornado whipped through the city Wednesday evening,

The BriefAn EF-1 tornado touched down in Gary, Indiana, causing significant wind damage and uprooted trees.The tornado was seen near 21st Avenue and Hendricks Street, and the National Weather Service is continuing to investigate.

While property damage and power outages were widespread after three tornadoes touched down in Gary Wednesday night, there were no fatalities or major injuries reported. Andrew Ramos reports.
