Paul Doyle, the man accused of being the driver who ploughed into crowds at the Liverpool FC victory parade, is set to face trial in November after his first court appearance on Friday. Doyle, 53, wearing a black suit, white shirt and grey tie, looked emotional as he came into the courtroom at Liverpool Magistrates’ Court on Friday morning.
Appearing at Liverpool Crown Court, Doyle is said to have “held back tears” and was “visibly shaken” and “tired”. He was not asked to respond to any of the charges during the hearing, which lasted about 45 minutes. He is said to have looked around the room, and took in the space filled with reporters, police and lawyers.
