LORAIN, Ohio — The Lorain County Coroner's Office has identified the suspect involved in the ambush shooting that resulted in the death of a Lorain police officer and wounded two others on Wednesday.
One person died after a shooting Thursday night on Morse Road. Police found a victim with a gunshot wound and a firearm nearby.
An Uber driver was shot multiple times during an attempted robbery by one of two passengers she picked up, Ohio police said. Jaiden Palmer, 18, got in the vehicle in Akron on July 17 and grabbed the driver from behind, police said in a July 24 news release. He demanded the woman’s belongings and shot her six times, according to police.
Data analyzed by the CBS News Crime Unit shows at least 50 law enforcement officers have been shot in ambush attacks so far this year.
According to the Mayfield Heights Police Department, officers responded to a call around 9:45 p.m. on July 22 at the Gates Mills Place apartments, located at 6811 Mayfield Road. When officers arrived, they found a man dead inside the building.
