The California insurance commissioner issued a mandatory one-year moratorium on non-renewals and cancellations to protect Southern California residents affected by the recent fires.​

The California Department of Insurance may extend the moratorium to other ZIP codes that could become affected by the wildfires.

Insurance Commissioner Ricardo Lara said he's ordered insurance companies to have a one-year moratorium on insurance non-renewals and cancellations for people impacted by the Palisades and Eaton fires.
