South Korea’s president has accepted the resignation offer by his defense minister, as opposition parties moved to impeach both men over the stunning yet short-lived imposition of martial law that brought armed troops into Seoul streets.

South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol accused the country's opposition of controlling the parliament and sympathizing with North Korea.

A parliament member and opponent of the president said he was forced to climb over a nearly 5-foot-tall barrier to get into the building to vote against the martial-law declaration.
