Xbox Ally Handheld has a Release Date
Digest more
One of 2025's biggest Steam games is now Steam Deck verified, two months after its the PC game's original release.
As PCGamesN reports, the full spec includes an Intel Core i9 14900HX CPU, Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090 graphics, 64GB of RAM, a 2TB NVMe SSD, that 12.5-inch 4K touch screen, and a 50Wh battery.
Wondering which handheld hybrid to pick up for your collection? Here’s a deep-dive into the Nintendo Switch 2 vs the Steam Deck.
Among the games included in this bundle are Ticket to Ride, Root, Clue, and Battleships, with each game working great on Valve's handheld.
The one additional step that might catch you out is making sure to retain the original Steam Deck drive's metal shielding. It can be removed gently with a pair of tweezers and applied to the new SSD, and while it might feel unnecessary, it'll prevent interference from the handheld's Wi-Fi and Bluetooth signals.
The Steam Deck OLED starts at $549 / £479 and is available directly from Valve via Steam. This will get you the 512GB model, which comes bundled with a basic carrying case.
Still, 2025 is a very different time from 2022. Nintendo is back with a vengeance, and there are more powerful handhelds like the ASUS ROG Ally. Even Xbox is looking to get in on the action, so if you’ve not picked up a Steam Deck as of yet, have you missed your chance, especially as rumors swirl of a Steam Deck 2?
Storage might not be sexy, but if your Steam Deck (or any number of other handheld systems) doesn’t have a ton of space from the jump, a microSD card is a smart investment. The best part is that they’re regularly discounted, and our pick of the bunch has just seen a 44% drop at Amazon for the 512GB version, and the 1TB one is reduced, too.
