Medicare members could potentially lose their telehealth benefits next month, with temporary COVID-19 era expansions set to expire without action from Congress. If you're on Medicare, you might have heard a thing or two about cuts coming to what sort of telehealth services your plan covers.

Ro Khanna (D-Calif.) posted a video on TikTok informing his 400,000 followers of “breaking news” that “the Trump administration announced that Medicare will stop covering telehealth on April 1st,” and calling for opposition to “stand up to these Medicare cuts.

In February 2025, a rumor spread that Medicare would stop covering telehealth services — which allow patients to access health care remotely using digital technology — as of April 1, 2025.

Providers, patients and digital health companies are ramping up their calls for more certainty that Medicare will continue to reimburse them for telehealth appointments after the current authority to do so expires on April 1.

The pandemic expansion of Medicare telehealth will expire March 31 unless Congress acts to extend Medicare telehealth expansion.
