Tens of thousands of people — more than 170,000 at one point — across the United States reported issues using Verizon Wednesday. Verizon said it was aware of an issue impacting wireless voice and data services for some customers.

Verizon has confirmed its wireless network is experiencing an "issue" as reports of outages flooded in on Wednesday, Jan. 14, leaving tens of thousands of customers stuck with their phones stuck in "SOS" mode.
Over 1.5 million Verizon customers had reported outages, according to Downdetector, but by late Wednesday the company said service had been restored.
