Cubs Elevate Tyler Zombro To VP Role
After rebuffing an interview attempt from the Nationals, the Cubs have promoted Tyler Zombro to vice president of pitching, reports Sahadev Sharma of The Athletic.
Earning his third-career All-Star season in this past campaign, Bregman slashed .273/.360/.462 with 18 homers. And in an apparent attempt to recruit the veteran to his team, Cubs’ infielder Ian Happ outlined a particularly good fit between Bregman and the team’s existing batting order.
He called the Cubs’ normal route a “volume approach.” It involves taking fliers on pitchers on smaller deals, relying on the pitching infrastructure to get the most out of them, accepting that some won’t pan out, and gathering enough depth to pivot when necessary.
