New York City police apologized for mistakenly accusing a teenager of a fatal shooting at a Brooklyn parade, then failing to retract the false allegation for nearly five months, despite knowing it was incorrect.

The victim, a 37-year-old man, was found shot in the chest at about 9:15 p.m. at the Tompkins Houses in Bedford-Stuyvesant, behind a Park Ave. building near Tompkins Ave.

The police posted photos of Camden Lee, 16, on social media and said he was wanted for the shooting. Only after five months did they admit they were wrong.

In its updated statement, the police department said the 15-year-old teen was a “person of interest” in the shooting, which remains unsolved,
