Norfolk Southern reported the derailment around 7 a.m. Saturday by calling 911. Crews from Peach County and Byron responded to the incident in Powersville. Officials said rain caused the derailment.

Norfolk Southern confirmed to FOX 5 that a person was hit by one of its trains early Saturday afternoon. Atlanta Fire Rescue said the crash happened in the 300 block of Peachtree Hills Avenue NE.
