The first of two vessels carrying 1,000 tons of a Chinese-made chemical that could be a key component in fuel for Iran’s military missile program has anchored outside the Iranian port of Bandar Abbas on Thursday,

Residents woke to a series of powerful explosions that shook the capital as local officials said air defences were engaging the largest ballistic missile salvo to target Kyiv in weeks.

The attack comes after president Zelensky suggested peace negotiations with Russia could include a territory swap.

"Long-range weapons are the key to reducing the military potential of the aggressor. In 2024, Ukraine expanded missile production, tested new ballistic and cruise missiles, and strengthened its air defence. In 2025, the emphasis will continue to be on high-precision deep strikes and the latest missile defence," the Ukrainian MoD said.
