Tony Finau says he isn't going to LIV Golf in 2025, despite what the heavily churning rumor mill is suggesting. Finau spoke with Golfweek ahead of the 2024 Hero World Challenge, from which Finau withdrew heading into the week.

But that rumor has been put to bed. According to Adam Schupak of Golfweek, Finau withdrew from the Hero World Challenge because he had surgery on Oct. 15. The operation repaired a torn meniscus and cleaned up cartilage. “From what my doctor told me, it was a pretty standard clean-up,” Finau told Golfweek.

After initially committing to this week’s Hero World Challenge, the 20-man event hosted by Tiger Woods every December, Finau pulled out at the last minute due to undisclosed reasons. The PGA Tour Communications team released an updated field on Monday morning, which included 2023 Ryder Cup player Sepp Straka taking Finau’s place.

Tony Finau, No. 26 in the Official World Golf Ranking, won’t tee it up this week at Albany Golf Club in the Bahamas for Tiger Woods’ silly-season event. Finau hasn’t played since the Presidents Cup, where he went 2-2-0 in Team USA’s win.
