Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh announced on Monday that 29 individuals, suspected to be from Bangladesh, were arrested in Imphal West district after they were found in possession of Aadhaar cards issued in Assam.

Manipur chief minister N Biren Singh said that police have done a drive on the suspicion of Bangladeshi staying and around 29 individuals mostly from Assam were found not in compliance with the Manipur Inner Line Permit (ILP) guidelines.

Manipur CM N Biren Singh has reported the apprehension of 29 suspected Bangladeshis with Assam-issued Aadhaar cards.

Biren Singh said that 29 people were arrested for possessing Aadhaar cards issued in Assam and violating the Inner Line Permit norms of Manipur.

Manipur conducted a drive and found 29 individuals from Assam not complying with ILP guidelines. They have been deported. The state government has formed committees to review and enhance the implementation of ILP.
