Apple's plans to add Google Gemini to Apple Intelligence are well underway, according to backend iOS code. 9To5Mac analyst Aaron Perris looked into the backend update for the iOS 18.4 beta and discovered mentions of "Google" alongside "OpenAI" and "Third Party Model.

Google is pulling its Gemini assistant from the main Google app on iOS, in a bid to encourage users to download the dedicated Gemini app.

Google has recently removed Gemini AI from its primary app for iOS devices in lieu of a full-scale, standalone platform, as reported by multiple outlets. Users can still access the AI model by downloading and using the dedicated Gemini app instead.

Code within the new iOS 18.4 beta shows that Apple appears to be readying an alternative to its ChatGPT integration in Apple Intelligence, with an option to use Google Gemini.
