Our Corsair was manufactured by Goodyear in April of 1945. The aircraft was delivered to Marine Squadron VMF-115, part of Marine Air Group 12, at Moret Field near Zamboanga on Mindanao (Philippines). From June 7th to August 29th, 1945, our aircraft took part in more than 30 combat missions, performing bombing runs, napalm strikes, and rocket attacks. We love reunions. Especially ones like today, when 100-year-old Helen Vaudrin visited our Restoration Center and Reserve Collection to see the Goodyear F2G-1 Super Corsair that she helped build--when she was a Rosie the Riveter at the Goodyear Aircraft plant in Akron, Ohio during World War II. Like most Rosies, she never saw her planes fly away from the factory. Today was the first time she met the finished Corsair she helped create.
