The hike is about 1.5miles long and has 800 steps. I made many stops along the way so I honestly didn't feel the 500ft elevation gain. The State Park is open year round but the Gorge trail does close from late October to late May depending on conditions (It can get extremely icy, flooded, and unsafe). last year it didn't close until November so
