I’ve seen some strange things diving in Algal Bloom waters recently and this is no exception. A brittle star, usually tucked under rocks and only active at night, was out and about during the day. Most bizarre though, its central disk, normally solid, was hollow like a donut - possibly due to damage from toxins in the bloom that breakdown cells and tissues.
