This evening in synagogues across the world Jewish congregations gather to “dance for the Torah," ”dancing for the Jewish people who have the opportunity to read the Torah!” Simchat Torah, meaning “rejoicing in the Torah,” is a joyous celebration of the completion of the annual reading of weekly Torah passages starting with Genesis 1 and going through Deuteronomy 34. Simchat marks an end and a beginning, a reminder that Torah is a circle that never ends! No work is permitted as everyone gathers
